Infinity Expedition Voyage from Thailand to Hawaii 2009
Launching the Sea Tribe Climate Change Initiative, Infinity sailed from Thailand to Hawaii in June to December 2009 via: Singapore, Borneo, Philippines, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshalls
During the voyage we further defined our goals and strategies and published our first articles.
Chartering in Thailand
From December 2008 until February 2009, Infinity was the base for exclusive charters in Thailand‘s Andaman Sea.
Prior to this charter, Infinity underwent some major improvements; rigging work, a complete interior refit, new upholstery, a paint job and much more. Several crew members were also given an image make-over, in order to enhance sales appeal!
PCRF
From October 2006 until September 2008, Infinity was host to the Planetary Coral Reef Foundation (“PCRF”). PCRF is dedicated to halting the destruction of the World’s coral reefs and restoring their beauty, health and abundance. During this voyage, an international crew of scientists and students sailed Infinity from Thailand to Fiji and back, conducting extensive research on coral reefs in Malaysia, Indonesia, Irian Jaya, Papua New Guinea, The Solomon’s, Vanuatu and Fiji.
‘The Shake Down Cruise’
Infinity was acquired in San Diego, May 2003. After an extensive refit of all fundamental systems – which, however, stopped short of constructing the less vital interior - Infinity left Ensenada, Mexico embarking upon her first ocean journey. The crew consisted of 14 people from around the globe – including 3 children. Infinity sailed across the entire Pacific, visiting the Line Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon’s, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Borneo, Malaysia and Singapore, and finally arriving in Phuket, Thailand in June 2006.
